ReSound Sensia
ReSound Sensia uses AI and four-microphone focus to automatically help you hear the person in front of you, even in busy restaurants and packed rooms.
ReSound Sensia is ReSound's newest premium hearing aid family, available in the United States beginning August 2026. It is designed to solve a common frustration with today's AI-powered hearing aids: focusing on the wrong voice in a crowded room, or mistaking background music for the sound you want to hear. Sensia builds on the small size and all-day battery life of ReSound Vivia while adding smarter, fully automatic help in noisy places.
Key Features of ReSound Sensia
- Intelligent All-Around: Automatic system that adjusts to every listening situation
- AcoustIQ Sound Sensing: Identifies your environment and engages the right features
- Four-Microphone Beamforming: Focuses on the person you are facing
- Automatic DNN Denoising: Reduces competing voices around your conversation partner
- Fully Working Auracast: Ready for public audio broadcasts right now
- Bimodal and CROS Options: Solutions for cochlear implant users and single-sided hearing loss
Sound Quality: Sensia's automatic system, called Intelligent All-Around, combines three technologies. AcoustIQ constantly listens to your surroundings and turns on the right features for each moment, with ReSound reporting 91% accuracy in classifying listening environments. A four-microphone beamformer uses both hearing aids together to focus on the person you're facing, since people naturally look at who they want to hear. Finally, DNN denoising, a type of artificial intelligence trained to tell speech apart from other sounds, quiets competing voices around your conversation partner. Together, they help Sensia lift up the conversation you're actually following instead of locking onto the loudest voice in the room.
How Sensia Adjusts Throughout Your Day: In quiet settings, Sensia keeps sound open and natural. As noise builds, it shifts to a "Better Ear" approach, where one hearing aid focuses forward while the other keeps listening broadly. In loud places with an ongoing conversation in front of you, it engages its strongest speech-focus processing. Sensia waits for a steady pattern of conversation before making that change, so the sound stays stable instead of jumping around with every brief noise. In places filled with non-speech noise, like a fan or vacuum, it switches to ReSound's established Noise Tracker II system instead.
Connectivity: Sensia supports Bluetooth LE Audio with streaming from Apple and Android devices. Its Auracast capability works right out of the box, letting you hear public audio broadcasts in theaters, airports, and houses of worship directly through your hearing aids. You can find and join available broadcasts in the ReSound Smart 3D app. Auracast is still being adopted, so this feature will become more useful over time. At least one RIE model also includes a telecoil for traditional hearing loops.
Battery Life and Charging: The rechargeable models provide at least 24 hours of use on a single charge, with up to roughly 30 hours depending on how you use them. Sensia keeps essentially the same small size and battery performance as Vivia even with its added automatic processing, and ReSound is introducing a smaller, updated premium portable charger for convenient charging on the go.
Design and Styles: Sensia is available in a wide range of styles, including a rechargeable microRIE, size 312 and size 13 RIE models, a non-wireless CIC, a wireless ITC, and rechargeable ITC and ITE custom models. The microRIE is also available in versions for single-sided hearing loss (CROS) and in bimodal versions designed to work alongside Cochlear Nucleus sound processors for people who have a cochlear implant in one ear and a hearing aid in the other.
Customization and Fitting: At Boerne Hearing & Tinnitus, our Doctors of Audiology fit Sensia to your specific hearing profile and verify the result with real ear measurement. ReSound's updated fitting software includes the latest NAL-NL3 prescription, and even with all of Sensia's automation, we can still fine-tune volume, noise reduction, and other settings to suit you.
It's helpful to know how features vary by model. The fully automatic AI denoising is included in Sensia 9 microRIE. Sensia 7 offers AI denoising and focused beamforming through a hearing-in-noise program you select yourself. Custom in-ear models use focused directional processing but do not include AI denoising at launch. We'll walk you through these differences so the model you choose matches your daily life.
Smart App Features: The ReSound Smart 3D app lets you adjust volume, change programs, and personalize your sound right from your phone. It also lets you find and join Auracast broadcasts with a few taps.
Who Can Benefit: ReSound Sensia is a strong fit for people who:
- Struggle to follow conversations in restaurants and crowded rooms
- Want their hearing aids to adjust automatically without using an app
- Prefer a very small, discreet rechargeable hearing aid
- Want to take advantage of Auracast broadcasts now
- Have a cochlear implant in one ear or hearing in only one ear
