Phonak EON

Dedicated chip separates speech from background noise
Automatically adjusts settings as environments change
Up to 50 dB wind-noise reduction outdoors

Phonak EON delivers clear speech in noise, wind-noise reduction, and Auracast connectivity in a smaller, lighter design at Boerne Hearing & Tinnitus.

Phonak EON is Phonak's newest hearing aid platform and the third generation of its Audéo Sphere technology. It builds on Phonak's strong speech-in-noise performance while adding a noticeably smaller and lighter design, smarter automatic adjustments, better wind-noise control, and broad wireless connectivity. EON is designed to support hearing losses ranging from mild all the way through profound.

Key Features of Phonak EON

  • Spheric Speech Clarity 3.0: Dedicated chip that separates speech from noise
  • Smaller, Lighter Design: 25% smaller and 20% lighter than before
  • AutoSense OS AI 8.0: Adjusts to your surroundings automatically
  • WindBlock 2.0: Reduces wind noise for outdoor comfort
  • Native Auracast Support: Connects to public audio broadcasts
  • Broad Bluetooth Connectivity: Works with phones, TVs, and computers

Sound Quality: The standout feature of EON is Spheric Speech Clarity 3.0. In simple terms, this is a separate processing chip inside the hearing aid whose only job is to tell the difference between the person you want to hear and the noise around you. It isolates the speech, makes it clearer, and blends it back in so conversation stands out in busy places. Phonak reports up to 50% better speech understanding compared with older directional microphone technology, along with up to 37% less listening effort, which means less of that worn-out feeling at the end of a long day of listening. It's worth noting that the 50% figure is measured against traditional directional microphones, not against normal hearing, and results vary from person to person.

Behind this is a new processing chip Phonak calls Hypersonic. You don't need to think about it day to day, but it's the reason EON can do more advanced sound processing while using less power than the previous generation.

Automatic Adjustments: Most people don't want to fuss with settings throughout the day, and EON is built around that. A feature called AutoSense OS AI 8.0 constantly senses whether you're in a quiet room, a noisy restaurant, or somewhere in between, and shifts the hearing aid's settings for you automatically. With this version, the speech-clarity feature switches on faster and stays active in more situations, so you spend less time struggling when you move from one environment to another.

Wind Noise: If you spend time outdoors, wind blowing across the hearing aid microphones can be one of the most annoying sounds to deal with. WindBlock 2.0 is designed to quiet that turbulence, offering up to 50 dB of wind-noise reduction while still letting you hear speech and the sounds around you. In Phonak's testing, more than 90% of participants preferred it for how natural it sounded.

Connectivity: EON connects wirelessly to a wide range of devices, including phones, computers, tablets, and televisions. You can take hands-free calls, meaning you can talk without holding the phone to your ear, and the audio comes straight into both hearing aids. EON also supports RogerDirect, which lets it work with Phonak's remote microphones. A companion can clip one on in a loud restaurant, or it can sit on a conference table to help you follow a meeting.

EON also includes native Auracast support. Auracast is a newer type of public audio broadcast being introduced in places like airports, theaters, and houses of worship. When a venue has an Auracast transmitter, your hearing aids can receive that audio directly, similar to tuning in to a private station. Availability is still growing, so this is a feature that will become more useful over time as more venues adopt it.

Battery Life and Charging: EON is rechargeable and provides more than a full day of use on a single charge, up to about 22 hours even with demanding use that includes streaming and time in noisy places. A full charge takes roughly 2.5 hours. There's also an optional portable charging case with its own built-in battery, so you can recharge on the go without needing an outlet, which is handy for travel.

Design and Styles: EON comes in a standard rechargeable receiver-in-canal style that is 25% smaller and 20% lighter than the previous Sphere generation, making it more comfortable and discreet. It's available in eight color options. For people with hearing in only one ear, a CROS version is available that routes sound from the poorer side over to the better-hearing ear.

Customization and Fitting: At Boerne Hearing & Tinnitus, we fit EON to your specific hearing profile and verify the result with real ear measurement to confirm you're getting the right amount of sound. Spheric Speech Clarity is available across three technology levels, so we can match the features to your lifestyle and budget rather than fitting everyone with the same thing.

Smart App Features: EON works with the myPhonak app, which lets you adjust volume, change programs, and fine-tune your hearing experience right from your phone. Adjustments can be made quietly and discreetly as your day changes.

Who Can Benefit: Phonak EON is a strong fit for people who:

  • Struggle to follow conversation in restaurants and noisy places
  • Attend meetings, gatherings, or social events regularly
  • Spend time outdoors or deal with wind noise
  • Stream calls, music, or TV audio throughout the day
  • Want a smaller, lighter Phonak Sphere hearing aid
  • Have mild through profound hearing loss, including CROS candidates
